How to be prepared for an emergency on the GVR Tennis courts

Recently, the Tennis Club Board, asked Roger Philpott to prepare a study of the locations of the nearest AED and First Aid Kit at each of our six tennis facilities. Roger did so and after reviewing his work, the board has asked to review their findings with GVR Senior Management. In the mean time. This is a quick summary of Roger's work.
In the heat of an emergency, we normally do not think the process well, so please learn where the AED and First Aid Kits are locations at the locations you play tennis. Thank you.
Notes:
  1. Aid Stations incorporate both a Defibrillator (AED) and a First Aid Kit (FAK).
  2. Recreation Centers at East, Las Campanas, Madera Vista, Desert Hills and Canoa Hills all have Aid Stations close to the main entrance lobbies. The Exception is the West Center which only appears to have an AED, but we do have both in the Tennis Ramada area.

West Tennis Center
The Ramada at the Tennis West Center has both an AED and a First Aid Kit. The AED is located outside of the Ramada office (Tennis Hut) to the left of the sign-in desk.
The First Aid Kit is inside the Tennis Ramada Office (Tennis Hut) to the Right of the door.
East Center
No AED or First Aid Kit on the tennis courts or any signage as to where they may be found.

To gain access to the nearest Aid Station you need to TAKE your GVR CARD and
  • exit the courts using the stairs positioned in the SW corner of court 1 and then use the side gate of the East Center itself to gain access to the pool area.  Note: This side gate is kept unlocked during normal operating hours (sometimes)
  • Having gained access to the pool area, proceed to the right where there is another locked gate on the left adjacent to the pool, which can be opened with a GVR card.
  • The Aid Station is positioned against the West wall of the pool area. Between the Restrooms.  There is no signage to guide the person using the side entrance.
  • Alternatively, you can use the external frontage walkway to gain access to the main entrance of the building but this is a longer route to take.
Desert Hills

There is now an AED located in the Tennis Hut at Desert Hills.
Canoa Hills
No AED or First Aid Kit on the tennis courts or any signage as to where they may be found.  However, there is a small First Aid Kit attached to the wall just to the left of the Tennis Scanner located outside the tennis courts.
  • The nearest AED and a larger First Aid Kit can be found at the Aid Station located within the CH main building in the main entrance lobby area.
  • To access the main building from the tennis courts, use the North side entrance gate which is locked but can be opened with a GVR card.
  • The alternate but longer route is to walk around the outside of the building and access the main lobby area from the South side.
Note. The Bocce courts are only a few yards away and adjacent to the tennis courts, so if an AED was located on the wall next to the small First Aid Kit both clubs could easily and readily make use of it in an emergency. Signage would be required from the Bocce courts directing them to the tennis courts sign-in position.
Las Campanas
No AED or First Aid Kit on the tennis courts or any signage as to where they may be found.
  • The nearest Aid Station can be found inside the Racquet Ball Center but the entrance door needs a GVR card to open.
  • Once inside, the Aid Station can be found immediately on the Right side on the North wall.
  • The main LC building can also be accessed by the main doors on the North side, which remain unlocked during normal hours, but is a very long way from the tennis courts.
  • All the main building side doors need a GVR card to open.
Madera Vista
No AED or First Aid Kit on the tennis court or any signage as to where they may be found.
  • One advantage of this smaller center is that you need a GVR card to access the complex but once in you have ready access to all the areas including the pool, tennis courts and Aid Station.
  • When you see the Restrooms, turn around and you will see the Aid Station and the tennis court in the background
  • The Aid Station can be found in the main entrance area in the North West corner
