There were twelve teams that played USTA tennis January through March. There were 76 Senior players and 66 Super Senior players for a total of 142 GVR and Tennis Club members that played USTA from Green Valley.

A new team of 3.0 ladies in the Senior division was captained by Jennifer Lyons. They had 9 players, played in a bracket with 6 teams and did well for their first year of playing. Another new team was the 3.5 Senior Men’s team. Their captain was Hugh Bennett and they had 11 players on the team. In the Super Senior bracket there was a new Men’s 4.0 team captained by Jim Swifka. They had 7 players on their team.

The season has ended but a new season will be starting for Adult and Super Super Senior very soon. Watch for more information on home matches.

There will be a USTA Senior Mixed Doubles league this fall, along with the regular USTA men’s and women’s Super Senior Early Start Leagues. Both leagues will be combined ratings. Which means 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, etc. You can have only 1 level between players. So for example, a 6.0 team could have two 3.0 players or a 2.5 and a 3.5 player; a 7.0 team could have two 3.5 players or a 3.0 and a 4.0. Last year the levels were different for Super Senior. The Roadrunners, Carolyn Herron’s women’s 3.0 senior USTA, team just finished first at Sectionals. They won 4 matches out of 4 so will be heading to Indian Wells October 26th through the 28th.

All matches are at West Tennis Center unless noted. All men’s matches are 2-4 PM; all women matches are at 12-2 PM,except Cathy Waddle’s matches which are at 2-4 PM.
